The University of Minnesota-Crookston, located in Crookston, Minnesota. This University offers a B.S. and Associates degree in equine science. UMC focuses on management and the commercial aspect of the equine industry. Students will receive training very balanced with knowledge in all areas of the equine field, including daily care, nutrition, health, exercise and training, business and management care. Graduates of the program will have knowledge in theory and practice of nutrition, health, Physiology and reproduction with knowledge of the responsibilities of equine property. They will be also very versed in theories of management and be trained in the use of a variety of different types of software and marketing strategies related to the equine industry. With the skills of management, graduate will be also developed the riding skills and will be able to train horses for all types of temperament and conformation. This will give graduates the best chance of finding a job in a field some of the equine industry. Here are some of the different careers available:

Students who are involved in the equine program will work with a variety of 40 horses which are permanent fixtures in the UMC stables. Students will take care of these horses to acquire practical experience in training, riding, grooming, breeding and showing all the different races that the school has. Students are not assigned to a particular horse unless they are in training or showing the class, instead, students travel and work with different horses so that they will be able to acquire experience in dealing with horses with different temperament and conformation. With using horses campus, all students are issued a laptop computer that they use on a daily basis with any of the relevant software which requires their curriculum. What makes highly sought after because they have a lot of different equine skills and many technological skills that graduates from other schools will not graduate.

Education and university education centre is located at the northern end of the UMC campus and has a number of features which include:

Students can also participate in many equine related clubs schools. The IHSA riding team participates in Zone 9, 3 areas portion of the IHSA. Members can participate in events of Western or English to a number of shows. Students can also join the Association of. The Association's aims to provide information to the equine science community, compete in colleges in the interest of horseback riding, provide a support group for students interested in the skills of riding, visit companies with respect to the équineet industry to provide social activities for it members.
