On only two dates in the year, the Sun seems to "roll" down the shoulder of Croagh Patrick, montagne Sainte of Westport. This extraordinary performance cannot be considered an ancient rock known as the stone of Boheh who invited on go! hiking! holiday will be passed on the 1 hour trek. If you are planning a trip to Westport soon, to make the weekend of Saturday 18 April, the next date that the performance of rolling sun will be visible.
On 18 April, the Sun will be literally defined on the Summit of Croagh Patrick (or the Reek such that it is known locally). Instead of pass behind the mountain, it moves on the side of the mountain, hence the name "rolling sun." It takes about 20 minutes. It is unique and can be compared to the solstice at Newgrange screenings in the Boyne Valley.
Sun Capital has been photographed first by the late Gerry Bracken of the Westport historical society, using multiple exposure photography to produce a spectacular image.
Boheh stone is a large rock rock covered mark ring and decorative Cup, the only examples of this type of art of Connaught. The stone is also known as President of St. Patrick and dates back to the Bronze age.
The location is a couple of hundred feet of the go! hiking! stables and basis for a cultural visit to horse Croagh Patrick and Clew Bay. There are many hidden views both the cultural and environmental treasures which allow a single day or a short break to remember. Visit http://www.westportwoodshotel.com for more information about the range and mounting.
